Use of Dolomite Powder (80 Mesh) in Tile Adhesive
Dolomite powder of 80 mesh is commonly used in tile adhesive formulations due to its cost-effectiveness and functional properties:
Filler Material – Acts as a bulk filler, reducing the overall production cost without compromising performance.
Improved Workability – Helps in achieving a smoother paste, making it easier to spread and apply adhesive on surfaces.
Strength & Bonding – Enhances compressive strength and supports better adhesion between tile and substrate.
Control of Setting Time – Its mineral composition helps regulate adhesive setting time, aiding in proper tile placement.
Dimensional Stability – Minimizes shrinkage and cracking after curing.
Since 80 mesh dolomite has a relatively coarse particle size, it is suitable for general-purpose or non-white tile adhesives where extreme whiteness is not critical. For white or premium tile adhesives, finer grades (300 mesh and above) are preferred, or additional whitening agents (like TiO₂) can be added.
